This year, 82 Londis retailers received awards, including five stores in Mayo: Mulroy’s Londis, Moneen Roundabout, Castlebar  who won the Retailing Standard Award and Deli and Hot Food Store of the Year 2016, Cunningham’s Londis PLUS, Ballyhaunis who won aRetailing Excellence Award, Hiney’s Londis, Crossmolina who won a Retailing Excellence Award,  Londis PLUS, Station Road, Castlebar  who also claimed a Retailing Standard Award and Mulroy’s Londis, Breaffy Road, Castlebar  winners of the Retailing Standard Award.

SPAR Corrib Oil Ballyhaunis and SPAR Corrib Oil Ballinrobe were among a small group of retailers from around the country which have been honoured at the fifth annual Top of the Tree Retail Awards. The awards programme recognises best practice and outstanding retail practice in several store departments, including customer care, off-licence, butchery, fruit and veg, and the delicatessen section. SPAR Corrib Oil Ballyhaunis and SPAR Corrib Oil Ballinrobe were awarded Top of the Tree accolades for their forecourts.

Tesco stores in Mayo redistribute meals to local charities

Local charities and groups across Mayo have received almost 54,000 meals to date from Tesco Ireland through its surplus food donations programme run in partnership with Irish social enterprise, FoodCloud. A wide range of Mayo based organisations including Claremorris Family Resource Centre, St Vincent de Paul Foxford, and Tacáu - Youth Café have benefited from the redistribution of more than 24,000kg (or 54,000 meals) of surplus food from Tesco stores across Mayo over the past two years.
