A mayoral reception was held on Monday to celebrate the historic achievements of Galwegian athletes Katie Dillion (Athletics), Henry Cloran (Football), Kevin Hardiman (Golf), Máire Connolly (Gymnastics), Michelle O’Keane (Kayaking), Liam Hynes (Kayaking) and Patricia Larkin (Swimming), on their return from the 2023 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Berlin.

Local golfer, Simon Lowry from Loughrea, Co Galway, received the opportunity of a lifetime to meet with Irish golf champion, Padraig Harrington as he prepares to tee off in Abu Dhabi for the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games this March.

This March, five Galway athletes will travel to Abu Dhabi to compete in the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games.
