Claddagh pupils look for more schools to play Olympic handball

Fifth class pupils at Claddagh NS are issuing an appeal to find competitors for their Olympic handball team. According to the children, very few schools are involved in this sport which is described as a cross between basketball and soccer, and they are urging new schools to become involved and, if necessary, they are welcome to practice with Claddagh NS in their court.

All roads lead to Tri-Burgh 2011

June 4 sees the return of Tri-Burgh to Louisburgh. With more than 200 competitors it is sure to be a great day for all. Building on the success of the 2010 event organiser Robert Henaghan has expanded the appeal of the race by adding a sprint option so people can take part as individuals or teams over the two distances; Olympic or sprint. The distances include a swim (1500/750m) bike (40/20km) and finally run (10/5km). Full details of the course are available on www.triburgh.ie

Race2Glory officially launched by running legend Catherina McKiernan

The Race2Glory was recently launched by Irish running legend and Olympian Catherina McKiernan in the Park Hotel, Kiltimagh. The inaugural 40 kilometre multi-sport adventure race takes place in Kiltimagh on Saturday July 16, incorporating a 10 kilometre mountain run, 23 kilometre cycle, and a seven kilometre river run. Kiltimagh provides an ideal setting for such an event, with the capabilities of its natural amenities to facilitate a multi-sport adventure race and a history of athletic success; as it was home to 1924 Olympian runner Sean Lavan.
