A Halloween fancy dress ball at Garbo’s, Castlebar, on Saturday October 25, looks set to be a hit with no fewer than seven bands entertaining on the night. Bats, Shardborne, Race The Flux, New Valley Wolves, Fox Jaw, Twisted Wrath, and Hail From Russia are all taking to the stage for the frightfest ball. Garbo’s will be transformed into a Halloween fortress for the night and there is a prize of €500 up for grabs for the best fancy dress. Headline act for the night is Dublin band Bats.

Galway to host World Robotic Sailing Championship

For the first time Galway city is to host the seventh World Robotic Sailing Championships (WRSC2014) next week. The event will see fully autonomous and unmanned sailing boats, up to 2.5m in length, compete in a series of short distance racing, navigation, and autonomy challenges, taking place around the port of Galway.
