In celebration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, (Tuesday December 3, 2019) Mayo County Council’s Arts Service is delighted to announce the recipients of the UPSTART 2019 awards.

GMIT Mayo will host a Human Rights seminar in conjunction with the Rights Review Committee of Western Care Association and Mayo Self Advocacy, in the Mayo campus on Tuesday, October 16, at 6pm, as part of Mayo Social Inclusion week.

Silent Moves has topped the poll to represent 2015 in Modern Ireland in 100 Artworks by The Irish Times. Silent Moves is a film by Aideen Barry, Western Care’s Ridgepool Training Centre, and Scannán Technologies, hosted by Ballina Arts Centre and made possible through the IGNITE programme, funded by the Arts Council, Arts & Disability Ireland, and Mayo County Council.

SILENT MOVES, a film inspired by the silent comedies of Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, and Harold Lloyd, and starring actors with intellectual disabilities, will be shown in the Town Hall Theatre on Tuesday October 20 at 8pm.
