Cost of renting in Westmeath up 9.5 pc on this time last year

The cost of renting in Westmeath was 9.5 per cent higher in the third quarter of this year than a year previously, according to the latest quarterly Rental Report by Daft.ie.

New car registrations up 28 per cent

New car registrations were up 28 per cent (2,571) last month when compared to October 2014 (2,011). New car registrations for the year are currently up 30 per cent (123,670) on the same period last year. Light commercials vehicles (LCV), were down 13 per cent (1,206) on October 2014 (1,392) but year to date are up 43 per cent (22,848).

Nationally, rents have risen by over 11 per cent in the space of 12 months with the national average rent now €933 compared to €842 a year previously.
