Castlebar Town Council drops rates by two per cent in its final budget

The final budget meeting of Castlebar Town Council saw the elected members vote to drop the commercial rates in the town by two per cent for the year ahead. The members voted to cut the rateable valuation from 70.23 to 68.76 on foot of a proposal from Sinn Féin councillor Therese Ruane.

Castlebar Town Council reduces commercial rate by one per cent

In what could possibly be their final budget the members of Castlebar Town Council voted to reduce the commercial rate by one per cent for the coming year. The members held their annual budget meeting on Tuesday afternoon and following a two hour debate they were able to agree the budget for 2013. The commercial new rate for the town will now be 70.23 in the euro, down from 70.94 last year.

Friendship group for over 65s

The Friendship Group is open to men and women over 65 who would like to have some fun and is hosted by Castlebar Order of Malta. The service is aimed at people living in Castlebar and surrounding two mile radius.
