Galway athletes claimed an historic double when both the senior men and women's teams won titles at the National Inter-County Cross Country Championships in Tuam on Sunday.

Conditions were tough for the 12th Annual Tuam 8k last Sunday. For many this race is one of the best of the West's early season tests. It never dampened the enthusiasm or enjoyment of participants, and reminded us that sport reveals the greatest of the human spirit. And we needed that reminder after recent events.

Autumn temperatures soared on a sunny sporting Sunday at the fifth Breaffy 10k. It was also the final race in Mayo AC Vodafone 2015 Move2Improve series. The conditions were welcome but made extra demands on endurance and energy over the testing undulating terrain.
