New guidelines present opportunity to review speed limits and improve road safety says Mulherin

Fine Gael TD for Mayo, Michelle Mulherin, has called for a full review of speed limits currently in place across Mayo including in housing estates and areas where children play. Deputy Mulherin was speaking following the launch of a new document entitled “Guidelines for Setting and Managing Speed Limits”, which has been produced by the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Paschal Donohoe TD.

Victory for Ballina traders as traffic layout is reversed

Ballina traders have scored a victory of sorts after the town council this week agreed to backtrack in part on a recently introduced new traffic layout. With immediate effect from Wednesday November 3 last, a reversal of the direction of traffic along the main artery of Tone Street was introduced, meaning that traffic can once more travel eastwards from Market Square along Tone Street to the junction at Pearse Street.
