Pat McDonagh, Managing Director of Ireland’s most successful indigenous quick service family restaurant group, Supermac’s has been named as the All Ireland Marketing Champion of 2020.

120 new jobs will be created when the Portlaoise Plaza opens on Junction 17 on the M7 tomorrow Friday, July 31. The jobs were announced at the site this week by the Minister for State at the Department of Finance, Seán Fleming. The Portlaoise Plaza is part of the Supermac’s Group and will be the largest Plaza in the country, and brings the amount of people employed by the group throughout the country to over 4,000. The group consist of Supermac’s, Só Hotels and The Plaza Group.

Ireland’s largest group of family restaurants, Supermac’s, will open its first outlet in Co Wexford this coming Friday (June 28). The company has 117 outlets throughout the country and is set to open its 118th in Larkins Cross. The new outlet will be operated by Paul O’ Brien, who also holds franchises for Carlow and Killarney.

At the recent Midlands Hospitality Awards Ceremony, the Athlone Springs Hotel were thrilled to take home the accolade of ‘Best Family Hotel’. The So Hotel Group were well represented at the hospitality awards ceremony, alongside their sister property The Killeshin Hotel in Portlaoise, who also took home silverware with their General Manager, Michael Murphy, being the judges’ choice of ‘Rising Star’.

Supermac’s MD, Pat McDonagh has said that the family chain of restaurants was projecting a spend of €40million on Irish farm produce in 2019.

The redevelopment and refurbishment of the Athlone Springs Hotel, which was purchased in summer of last year by Supermacs proprietors, Pat and Una McDonagh, will lead to the creation of employment at the Monksland establishment.

The continued expansion of Supermacs and its sister company SÓ Hotels gathered pace last evening when Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys announced the creation of 300 jobs.

Supermac’s has announced this week that it is the new sponsors of The Marty Squad on RTÉ Radio 1. The show which returned to RTÉ Radio 1 on Sunday June 11 will air 6-7pm each Sunday.The Marty Squad, presented by Marty Morrissey and Brenda O’ Donoghue, takes a look at the weekend’s GAA action with guests and analysis. The show will travel across the country with outside broadcasts planned throughout the summer.
