Traditional music band, Shaskeen, has been a cornerstone of Irish Traditional music and song for over half a century and show no signs of slowing down, ahead of their appearance in the Town Hall Theatre on June 10 as part of Advertiser Events, group founder, Tom Cussen, discusses the glory days of Irish music, the importance of evolving as a band and the future.

Traditional Irish Music and Song has been at the forefront with Shaskeen for the last fifty-three years, and Shaskeen is now a recognised cornerstone in the Irish Traditional and Folk scene. 

Taking place across five days this week, the inaugural Galway Folk Festival has revealed a full line-up of exciting ticketed shows, free music trails and panel talks ahead of its June 15 opening.

Connemara Sea Week which runs from October 22 to 30, is a multi-disciplinary festival, celebrating the wonderful marine heritage of Connemara. The festival will celebrate its 33rd birthday later this month, and has grown to be a wonderful and unique event with something to interest all age groups. Highlights include art exhibitions, concerts, talks, walks, children’s activities, and sports events, combined with lots of great music and buckets of fun for all the family. A special highlight for the last few years has been the wonderful ‘After the Light’ parade, a spectacular night full of myth, magic, madness and mayhem.
