Draft bylaws on casual trading in the St Peter’s Square, St Mary’s Square, and the Civic Square in Athlone are to be presented to councillors at their November meeting, according to town clerk John Walsh.

Tourist office to move to Civic Centre

After a number of years lobbying Bord Failte to move the tourist office from its inaccessible site in Athlone Castle, the town council was able to announce some measure of success this week when it was revealed the office would spend “the entirety of 2010” on the ground floor of the Civic Centre.
