So when I came back home I wanted to do my bit for my community.” There won’t be too many 25-year-olds putting their names to the ballot paper next June when the local elections come around, but that’s what Jarlath Munnelly did in 2004. And the first-time candidate won a seat, becoming the youngest member of the current 31 county councillors.

The Rain Shines at Bar Ritz

Last Saturday night Green Lights and The Bastard Rain plus support from Kudoose bought an evening of excellent live entertainment To Bar Ritz (Mulroys Bar) Castlebar. At 9.30pm local group Kudose took to the stage playing acoustic versions of Jose Gonzalez’s take on The Knifes’ version ‘Heartbeats’ right through to The Stone Roses’ ‘Waterfall’.
