Coyle returns to Castlebar to defend his world title

Henry ‘The Western Warrior’ Coyle this week announced his return to the ring in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar, next month where he will defend his WBF Light Middleweight title against Marcelo Alejandro Rodriguez from Argentina. Sitting at the top table he was flanked on either side by his father, Gerry Coyle, and his promoter, Brian Peters, who is once again bringing another night of top class professional boxing to Mayo. Peters even revealed in the conference that Coyle’s fight on August 17 would be the first professional card of boxing in Ireland this year.

Sinn Fein councillor Rose Conway-Walsh this week voted against the adoption of a part eight report on a development of three dwellings for older people and a commercial unit at Church Road, Belmullet, at the Belmullet Electoral Area Committee meeting. Cllr Conway-Walsh gave her reasons for not supporting the item saying: “I can’t support this. I think that Church Road is congested enough already. It has seen the landscape change dramatically over the past number of years. This is not in the interests of best planning.”
