A newly developed pub and restaurant called John Keogh’s – The Lock Keeper has opened in the heart of Galway in the city’s west-end. The new gastropub was developed by Matt Hall, a Galway resident who also owns MacBride’s Bar in Westport.
The multi-award winning bar and restaurant in Glasson, The Fatted Calf, was recently voted best gastropub in Leinster 2014 as part of the Restaurant Association of Ireland awards. This is the second time The Fatted Calf has scooped this prestigious award, having won in 2012. Voted best casual dining restaurant in Ireland 2014 by Georgina Campbell and also being named as one of the top 100 restaurants in Ireland by McKenna Guides (formerly The Bridgestone Guide) it’s clear the gastropub is going from strength to strength. Eat at Massimo, the gastropub located on William Street in Galway has been accepted to the prestigious Euro Toques group of restaurants and has also received a Georgina Campbell recommendation. It is relatively rare for a gastropub to be permitted to join the renowned European Community of cooks and chefs.
