AIB Galway hosted a community event for COPE Galway and Galway Hospice last week in the Clayton Hotel in Ballybrit. In attendance was GAA Hurler of the Year Joe Canning and his fellow All-star teammate Gearoid Mc Inerney. More than 300 people attended the event to help raise funds for the two charities. Over €1,500 was raised which will be split evenly amongst the two charities.

GALWAY Hospice will hold its 12 th annual Galway Memorial Walk on Sunday, September 10. This year’s Memorial Walk will begin at 12 noon from Claddagh Hall to Blackrock and return - a total distance of 6.5km. The Memorial Walk is Galway Hospice’s biggest fundraising event of the year and since its inception in 2006, the event has raised over €1.7 million to help maintain essential hospice services.

Ireland West Airport staff raise €30,000 for three charities

Ireland West Airport staff were delighted last week to present a cheque for €30,550 to the airport’s three nominated charities for 2016 - Cancer Care West, MS Ireland and Pieta House . In late 2015, in a new initiative by the airport, Ireland West Airport staff voted to select three Irish charities for the inaugural Ireland West Airport Charity of The Year programme for 2016.
