In particular, funding is approved for four new classrooms, three special education teacher rooms, two special education needs classrooms and a water closet for assisted users. Deputy Dillon said: "It will be of enormous benefit to the almost 200 boys and over 150 girls attending the school. While increasing overall capacity at the Ballyhaunis school, it also importantly increases the special education infrastructure at primary level in east Mayo. This is the second school in Mayo to receive additional accommodation this year.
