Donegal driver Declan Boyle and his cousin Brian increased their stranglehold on this year's Dunlop National Rally Championship by taking their Subaru Impreza to their fourth win from five rounds on the Sligo Park Hotel Stages Rally. They were the clear winners, finishing more than a minute ahead of Niall Maguire and co-driver Enda Sherry despite the rally being shortened from nine stages to six when the extreme heat caused problems with the road surface in places.

The event took place over a challenging, eight special stages, run in a one day format. Triple British Rally Champion, Keith Cronin, from Cork, really showed his talent through the day’s slippy and tough stages, by upping his pace on virtually every stage to win the event, ahead of former multiple Irish Tarmac Rally Champion, Eugene Donnelly.

Melvyn Evans and Patrick Walsh stormed to victory on the 2010 McWilliam Hotel Mayo Stages Rally to become only the second overseas winners of the event in its 34 year history. The Welshmen proved that lack of local knowledge was no obstacle to success, as they set a string of impressive stage times on what was their first appearance in Mayo. It was their second National Rally Championship victory in the space of two weeks.
