Lough Mask cycle challenge open to all

Ballinrobe road race coming up

People living in the south Mayo and north Galway can look forward to a festival of cycling on local roads on Saturday, and Sunday, August 9 and 10. The two days of racing make up the annual Ballinrobe two-day road race which attracts cyclists from all over Ireland. “This will be a huge event with up to 120 riders, and in the past locals have been able to enjoy some great racing in the region,” said a spokesperson for organisers Western Lakes CC.

Recommendations following Mayo drowning

The Marine Casualty Investigation Board recommended this week that jet skis should be registered with number plates and all users made to undergo training because of a surge in accidents, in a report into the drowning of a 21-year-old man in Lough Mask in May 2007.

The Hayride are a high energy live performance band who play a combination of styles that range from rockabilly, swamp, blues, bluegrass and vintage country.
