“Disastrous”, “mind boggling”, and “shocking” is how Galway politicians have described Bus Eireann’s decision to cancel the 20/X20 Expressway service from Galway to Dublin.

Bus Éireann, Ireland’s national bus company, is pleased to announce significantly enhanced services and timetables which came into effect yesterday, Sunday 22 November 2020.

Athlone Town Mayor, Cllr. Aengus O’Rourke has welcomed the announcement by Bus Éireann to issue school transport refunds while the service was not in use during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In response to the Government announcement on moving to phase 2+ of Ireland’s roadmap for reopening society and business, all weekday Bus Éireann services have returned to a standard Monday to Friday frequency from Monday last June 8, while Expressway will operate a normal schedule with some minor service reductions.

THE Galway depot of Bus Éireann won the coveted Depot of the Year at the annual Bus Éireann GEM awards last weekend.

Galway city's bus services are not "operating at optimal level", with a number of heavily populated areas having no bus service, while other routes have "insufficient capacity at peak times".

The introduction of €1 fares on buses in Galway city for July has been hailed as “a huge success”, according to Social Democrats Galway West General Election candidate Niall Ó Tuathail, who has called for the low fare period to be extended.
