National Children’s Choir to host regional concert in Mayo

The National Children’s Choir is a school-based choral experience for primary school children. Affiliated pupils from fourth, fifth, and sixth classes in Irish primary school learn a common repertoire of songs. The repertoire challenges the pupils to perform a broad range of songs from Bach to The Beatles. The choir enables young people to experience the sheer joy and involvement in music and song. The National Children’s Choir aims to foster a love of choral singing among primary school pupils and to enhance the musical education of those involved.

"Oh the thinks you can think"! St Joseph’s transition year students, Castlebar, have been doing more than thinking ‘thinks’ these past few weeks. They have been busy rehearsing and bringing to life all of the favourite Dr Seuss characters including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and JoJo and many more wonderful characters in their performance of Seussical The Musical. This show, this magical musical extravaganza, will take you from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus and to the invisible world of the Whos.

In the past week, there has been a lot of growing speculation as to who is playing Goldilocks in the upcoming Castlebar Pantomime Production of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Castlebar Pantomime's own news service Murray News has been roaming the town and county trying to get to the bottom of this most important question. Many of Castlebar'??s most renowned citizens have been speculating on who they think it might be as well as many of Mayo's star footballers.

Rehearsals have stepped up a gear this week in preparation for Castlebar Pantomime’s production of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, with just one month to go to show time. Cast and crew are getting really excited about the upcoming show, which this year is being held in Breaffy Arena from Thursday January 7 to Sunday January 10.

For the past two months there as not only been a lot of talk regarding Castlebar Pantomime’s move to Breaffy Areana, but also of who is playing Goldilocks! The directors of the show Sharon Lavelle and Antoinette Starken have been keeping the identity of the actress under close wraps! And its no good trying to get information out of other cast members or committee.  “No Comment”  seems to be the new mantra amongst cast and crew!!
