Organisers pleased with response to inaugural Sea Festival

The Galway Sea Festival has the potential to become a major maritime event for the city and county according to organisers who were delighted with the success of the inaugural festival weekend and flagship Gathering event. The festival commenced with the Bright Blue Sea Conference on Thursday with 130 participants attending the day long conference on marine related topics including Sea TECH, Sea PORT, Sea ENERGY and Sea PORT.

Ahead of the Galway Sea Festival taking place on the June Bank Holiday weekend, the Marine Institute, GMIT, NUIG, Irish Wildlife Trust, and Galway Atlantaquaria are combining efforts to offer families a chance to explore one of Galway city’s most important and exciting habitats - the beach. Explore the Shore Beach Safari will commence at 11.30am at Grattan Beach, Salthill on Sunday May 26 and everybody is welcome to come along and explore the shore.
