A 41-year-old Mayo County Council general operative was before Belmullet District Court on Wednesday after gardaí found €468 worth of cannabis resin during a search in his premises.

Independent councillor Michael Holmes has hit out at the Government for its decision to slash the €200,000 it had allocated for upgrading the Castlebar to Belmullet road.
