ACT for Meningitis founder Siobhan Carroll has been invited to serve as a member of the World Health Organisation Strategy Support Group for the global road map to defeat meningitis by 2030.

Sea swimmers are being invited to join women from across Ireland in Galway this Saturday, October 8 to raise funds for two charities. Network Ireland is hosting a charity swim at Blackrock in Salthill from 11.00am in aid of ACT for Meningitis and Rosabel’s Rooms.

ACT for Meningitis is a national charity based in Galway and provides free support services to anyone affected by meningitis in Ireland. It also works to save lives through greater awareness of the disease. Fundraising activities will officially begin with Network’s celebration of International Women’s Day in Co. Westmeath on Tuesday, March 8.

The head of a national meningitis support and awareness organisation is appealing to the public to be vigilant in the wake of an increase in meningococcal disease (the leading cause of meningitis in this country) recently.
