For the first time since 2020, members of the public interested in volunteering are being invited to the Galway City Volunteer Recruitment Fair in Leisureland on Sunday February 18 between 2pm and 5pm. There will be over 50 charities and community organisations from across the city at the Fair, which is being organised by Galway Volunteer Centre. Last year over 1000 people attended the event to speak to organisations about the work that they do and the volunteer roles that they are trying to fill.

People who manage volunteers in charities, community groups or clubs are being invited to a Helping Others Help celebration evening in the PorterShed on the evening of November 29. The event is being organised by Galway Volunteer Centre to recognise the critical effort that often happens in the background of community initiatives in Galway city and county.

Galway Volunteer Centre has welcomed a new national report by the Charity Regulator that estimates that the economic equivalent of volunteering was worth over €130 million to Galway in 2022.

Minister of State for Community Development and Charities at the Department of Rural and Community Development, shows that volunteering is as strong as ever in Galway City and County, with almost 1,000 new members of the public using the service to find volunteer work.
