Folk the auld recession anyhow

Tired of all the gloom and doom stories we hear all day long? Feeling the need to kick-off the traces a bit, let the hair down, relax and enjoy a bit of down-home hootenanny, Irish-style? Come on down to the Mullingar Arts Centre - they have just the remedy…

Here’s your advance notification: five of Ireland’s top folk musicians - all masters of the genre - appearing together on the same stage represents a unique opportunity if you find folk music appealing, and who doesn’t?

A lively evening of music, story, and song from Ireland’s own big five will take place on Saturday June 8. Presenting a wonderful selection of songs composed by legends such as Marty Robbins, Tom Paxton, Jesse Winchester, Tommy Scott, Joni Mitchell, Johnny Cash, Stephen Foster, Chuck Berry, Stockton’s Wing, and Woody Guthrie, combined with their own arrangements of great traditional tunes - a veritable feast of folk music is in store!

Folk the Recession will be presented at the Mullingar Arts Centre for one night only, on Saturday June 8 at 8pm. For more information call (044 ) 9347777.
