SOS - Save Our Skin
May is Melanoma Awareness Month
Melanoma Awareness Month is a global initiative to promote the early detection and prevention of skin cancer.
La Roche-Posay is once again driving the month-long awareness campaign in May, alongside the Melanoma Trust, the Irish Cancer Society, and consultant dermatologist Dr Patrick Ormond, with the support of the Department of Health.
Skin cancer is the most common cancer in Ireland, with an increase of 41 per cent in the last 10 years. Irish men are a particularly high risk group. Just one blistering sunburn can double your chances of developing melanoma later in life.
To help save Irish skin, join the SOS Save Our Skin cause at www.sossaveourskin.ie and La Roche-Posay will make a donation on your behalf to the Melanoma Trust.
Ninety-nine per cent of all skin cancers are preventable. Increasing awareness will save lives. Safe sun behaviour involves learning to do a skin check, seeing your GP regularly, and wearing appropriate sunscreen.
La Roche-Posay’s sun protection range, Anthelios, protects against cell damage caused by UV rays, offering the most effective sun protection on the market.
Available in pharmacies nationwide.
