A 23-year-old man from Belcarra, Castlebar, who during a drinking binge caused havoc in the TF bar and Tolster’s bar, where he struck the bar owner on the side of the head, was given a six month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, at Castlebar District Court this week.

Bench warrant for alleged brothel keeper

A bench warrant has been issued for a woman who allegedly ran a brothel in the Breaffy area of Castlebar.

At Castlebar District Court this week, Cyntia Veiga Nica, 18 Cahir Mhor, Clonmich, Tullamore, Co Offaly, failed to appear on the brothel-keeping charge. Judge Mary Devins directed a warrant be issued.
