Dear Editor,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank your readers for the fantastic support they gave to Trócaire's annual Lenten campaign this year. Without the support of communities throughout Co Mayo Trócaire simply wouldn’t be able to continue our work with the world’s poorest people.

A man with 44 previous convictions was given concurrent prison sentences by Judge Mary Devins this week, for public order offences which took place when the man was drunk.

Recognition of senior members in society continues this month as the Bealtaine festival celebrating creativity in older age gets into full swing. Bealtaine is co-ordinated by Age & Opportunity and works with local, regional and national organisations to encourage participation in the arts by older people.
One lovely project taking place throughout the month is Reflecting Colours, a poster exhibition which celebrates the work of older people involved in Mayo County Council Artists’ Mentoring and Networking Programme. Samples of works will be on show in the windows of premises along Bridge Street, Westport throughout May.

Children from the Quay School, Westport, had a real treat on Wednesday 28th April when the Mobile Cinema visited the school. All children had the opportunity to go to the cinema and view recent releases. The school wishes to thank the Mobile Cinema for their assistance on the day.
