Ballina to mourn ‘deep-rooted’ community man

Fianna Fáil TD for Mayo Deputy Dara Calleary has paid tribute to former Ballina Town Council member Sean McLoughlin who passed away at the weekend after a short illness. He was predeceased by his wife Mary.

Mr Loughlin served as a Fianna Fáil member of the local authority for seven years from 1987 to 1994 and was chairman of the authority in 1992.

“Sean McLoughlin served as a very diligent member of Ballina Town Council for seven years. Sean’s politics were local. He was deep-rooted in the community of Ballina and in particular the area of Tyrawley where he lived. Sean served as a councillor with the interest of his community and people at heart. He was always on hand to help with people’s problems and he gave his all to every issue that ever arrived at his door,” said Dep Calleary.

“Sean will be sorely missed by everyone who ever came into contact with him. To his family and large circle of friends I wish to extend my deepest sympathy,” he said.
