Anna Tsybuleva is coming to Castlebar

Acclaimed Russian pianist Anna Tsybuleva performs at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Wednesday, March 7, at 8pm as part of a Music Network tour.

Winner of the prestigious Leeds International Piano Competition in 2015, Anna Tsybuleva has astounded audiences and critics alike with her daring and bravura-filled interpretations of classic works.

A born performer, her muscular, rhythmic, playing and overtly nuanced attack give every accent a meaning, infusing the most familiar pieces with modernity and breathing new life into neglected works.

Since her success in Leeds, she has performed a string of engagements alongside many of Europe’s leading ensembles, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Hallé Orchestra, and Basel Symphony Orchestra.

As a soloist, she has also given recitals at London’s Wigmore Hall, the Shanghai Opera House Orchestra, the Salle Cortot in Paris, and Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels.

For this recital, Tsybuleva will be performing a programme featuring a selection of Chopin’s finest nocturnes and mazurkas, a set of Tchaikovsky’s character pieces "The Seasons", and "An Cailleach", a new commissioned work by Irish composer Siobhán Cleary evoking a Gaelic winter. Siobhán Cleary will also give a composer’s voice talk during the concert.
