Moy Sessions continues tonight in Ballina

Ballina Arts Centre’s ongoing literary series The Moy Sessions continues this evening, Friday, with a reading by two Mayo-based writers, poet Geraldine Mitchell and novelist Elizabeth Reape at 8pm.

Geraldine Mitchell's poetry has won many awards including the Amergin 2007 Creative Writing Award and the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award in 2008. Her three collections (all published by Arlen House ) are World Without Maps (2011 ), Of Birds and Bones (2014 ), and Mountains for Breakfast (2017 ). Earlier publications include two novels for young people and a biography. She has been writing poetry since she moved to Mayo in 2000.

Mayo native and young author Elizabeth Reape’s passion, drive, and talent are ensuring her a prominent place in the Irish writing scene at present. She has an MA in creative writing and her debut novel Red Dirt (Head of Zeus ) won the 2016 Sunday Independent Newcomer of the Year at the Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards.
