Claremorris gets ready for a parade to remember

Claremorris promises to host one of the most colourful and spectacular St Patrick’s Day parades with a huge international involvement from nearly 20 countries on Friday, thanks to main sponsor St Colman’s Credit Union, Claremorris.

The Claremorris St Patrick’s parade will get under way at 3pm. The pre-parade street entertainment will start at 1pm and will be performed by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and the Latvian Circus Troupe, Beztamata.

There will also be the ever popular growing locally community market supplying fresh vegetables and homemade baked goods on the day. Children’s entertainment will include bouncy castles, slides, and face painting.

There will cash prizes for the top three floats in the parade and a trophy for the best window display in the town to celebrate the day.

There will be plenty of musical entertainment in the parade including the 39 piece Ramelton Town Band from Donegal, they are the current All Ireland Fleadh champions, and the Duggan School of Dancing will also be taking part on the day. The post parade entertainment will be provided by the unforgettable singer-songwriter PJ Murrihy. Claremorris Community Radio will be doing a webcast of the parade, with three cameras, situated in the Square, with live coverage and commentary of the parade. The parade will start from the Lakeside Estate, Ballindine Road, and progress through the town.
