Ring welcomes arts funding for Mayo

Minister of State for Regional Economic Development, Michael Ring, this week welcomed the announcement that Mayo is set to receive €109,574 in funding from the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs for three projects in Mayo.

The three projects in Mayo to receive funding are; Custom House Studios in Westport, which will receive €43,274 for the replacement of windows and doors, the installation of a heating system and roof insulation; the Jackie Clarke Library in Ballina which will receive €24,300 for a fit-out of the musuem and the building of an online catalogue; the Linenhall Arts Centre, will receive €42,000 for the repair of leaks, the replacement of a flat roof, theatre equipment, flooring, network systems, and gallery lighting.

Minister Ring stated “This will come as a very welcome announcement to artists and audiences who use Custom House Studios, The Jackie Clarke Collection and the Linenhall Arts Centre. Investing in infrastructure, like theatres and performance spaces, is critical for a vibrant arts and culture sector, which in turn underpins social cohesion and supports economic growth. I am confident that this funding injection for these facilities will help to grow local audiences and attract further people into Mayo," he added that " I look forward to work getting underway on the Custom House Studios, The Jackie Clarke Collection and the Linenhall Arts Centre without delay.”
