Westport author's debut book chosen for showcase

Westport based author Keith Martin's first book The Little Book of Sham has been chosen by Fund It to be exhibited as part of a showcase of Project Creators work in Dublin on November 2 in partnership with sponsor Bank of Ireland. The Little Book of Sham will feature in the showcase in the Bank of Ireland Innovation Hub on Grand Canal Square for the month of November. Keith Martin is a librarian in his hometown of Westport.

He has enjoyed writer residencies at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre and the Heinrich Boll cottage. His main hobby is writing film screenplays no-one wants to produce. He served as a councillor on Westport Town Council from 2004 until 2014, when the council was abolished. The Little Book of Sham is his first book. It is also, very probably, his last. Martin is on Facebook and Twitter and you can learn more about him on www.about.me/thekeithmartin

The Little Book of Sham was published through a Fund It campaign which is a fundraising website which allows members of the public to support arts projects by pledging money in return for "rewards" such as signed first copies, being mentioned in the credits, through receiving merchandising, or any number of imaginative ways of thanking patrons.

Author Keith Martin says: "I am thrilled that my book has been selected for exhibition. It's such a unique book that I wasn't sure how it would be received but the response to it has been excellent! I have had some great online reviews but to get actual face to face feedback from readers is great. The fact that 'Fund It' have selected it for exhibition is a great compliment and I am delighted to be taking part in showcase.

"I hope this inspires others to use Fund It to follow their dreams and create and share their work with their community and the world. I was delighted at the huge turnout the launch of The Little Book of Sham had at Westport Library as part of the 41st Westport Arts Festival. I want to thank everyone who turned out to support me and also thank those who supported me via Fund It and who bought books online and by post. It was overwhelming to sell out on my launch night and I have more copies on the way!"
