Second chance to catch The Rising's Stage on Irish TV

Those who missed the televised production of The Rising’s Stage on Irish TV during the Easter period are to get a second chance to enjoy the poignant readings, historic songs, poetry and music from top local performers when the show goes out on air again on Sunday, April 24.

Recalling 1798 and the events that inspired the 1916 Irish rebellion, performers who took to the stage at Westport Town Hall include Brendan and Joanne Keegan, traditional singers Monica Brennan, Jackie Smalls and Charlie Keating, singer/songwriter Brian Duffy, and the legendary Frank McCaffrey, with readings performed by Tony McCabe and Peter Carney.

As we celebrate the centenary of 1916, The Rising’s Stage looks back at the songs and poems inspired by the great rebellion from the events of 1798 to the resurgence of the Irish Language, the fighting of Easter 1916 to the execution of the Irish leaders.

Be sure not to miss this quality one-hour long production on Irish TV on April 24, at 10.30pm. Irish TV can be viewed on Sky channel 191, all Free to Air boxes, Freesat 400, Eircom’s eVision 191 and online at www.irishtv.ie
