Castlebar gets ready to Love Lannagh

There are hundreds of reasons you should check out the Love Lannagh festival but we have picked out a few of the highlights. The festival takes place tomorrow April 23 from 1pm to 6pm.

Amazing Food

Foodies are in for a serious treat this year with the festival welcoming some of the finest artisan street food in the west.

The Teddy Bear’s Picnic

This is where it all began in 2012, The Teddy Bear’s Picnic. This year the picnic is relocating to the main festival area and will run all afternoon. Grab your favourite Ted and bring him or her along to enjoy a picnic, face-painting, a treasure hunt and a few little treaties!

Water sports

Take the chance to try your hand at a “raft” of watersports. Lough Lannagh is an incredible asset and we are just starting to discover its potential. From kayaking and canoeing to dragon boating, you may just discover your new passion.

Inter-club raft races

With 10 clubs competing this year, the inter-club rafting speed challenge is going to be interesting. Make sure to check out the timetable and get down to cheer on your club.

Adventures

The Adventure Game Zone, featuring all of last year’s favourites and lots of newbies as well, it is certain to entertain and challenge gamers of all ages. You can also pick up a bike for a mini bike hike around the lake or a quick spin over to the playground.

Tunes

Keeping up the tradition of brilliant music this year, the new crew in town, Relish and friends, are looking after tunes for the day. Kicking off at 1pm, it is never too early to get your groove on.

It’s free

The festival is still free. If you’re flush and/or extremely generous you can support the festival and throw a few bob into the voluntary enterance fee but there is zero pressure to do so, zero. This great day out won’t cost you a penny. Not a shilling!

It’s heartwarming

This entire festival is built by community, it will warm your heart to see how many volunteers, clubs, organisations and businesses back up the Love Castlebar crew in making Love Lannagh come to life.

Epic sunshine

All right, this one is not guaranteed but the forecast is looking pretty lovely, fingers, toes and eyes crossed that it will stay that way. Either way we have you and the carpark covered (just in case ).
