Rochford the sole nominee for senior job

There was just one nominee for the vacant position Mayo GAA senior team manager. Nominations for the post closed on Sunday evening and the only nomination recieved was for Stephen Rochford. The Crossmolina native was nominated by his home club Crossmolina Deel Rovers and by Ballinrobe GAA clubs (Rochford lives in Ballinrobe ). 

Rochford is currently managing the Corofin senior team in Galway and guided them to an All Ireland Senior Football Club Championship title last St Patrick's Day in Croke Park.The defended their Galway senior championship and are still invloved in the Connacht GAA Senior Club Championship at the moement.  Rochford had previously won the All Ireland Senior Club Championship as player with Crossmolina Deel Rovers in 2001. He was involved in the backroom team of the 2005 Mayo minor side that reached the All Ireland final that year.  According to a statement from Mayo GAA on Sunday, night Rochford will " meet with bord officials over the coming weeks where formal discussions will take place and also confirmation of backroom team members."
