Castlebar's Breadski Brothers are no flash in the pan

Baking trio's new product is on the rise

A new bread product from The Breadski Brothers, a Castlebar-based trio of baking brothers, is still very much on the rise.

The brothers have been shortlisted for a national award in the prestigious Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards for one of their products, called The Rye One with the Fresh Cranberries.

The product is from the 'That Bread' range by the Breadski Brothers, which was launched earlier this year by An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny.

The Rye One with the Fresh Cranberries was one of almost 1,000 product entries which underwent three weeks of tough judging at the Dublin Institute of Technology’s School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology.

It is now in with a chance to win one of the national awards in a glittering ceremony hosted by celebrity chef Derry Clarke of restaurant L'Ecrivain, in September at the Mansion House in Dublin.

The Breadski Brothers are three brothers - Magic, Mark and Martin - who moved to Ireland from Poland a decade ago.

And they are delighted with this latest boost for their bread.

“We're so pleased to see our bread recognised by the Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards," they enthused. "It is a real endorsement of the That Bread range. Winning this award would really help to put our products on the map countrywide."

There are three bread products in the That Bread range, the other two being The White One with the Sunny Sesame Seeds and The Brown One with the Toasted Pumpkin Seeds.

The Rye One With the Fresh Cranberries has been shortlisted in the Specialist Bread category.
