Back to the 18th century at Enniscoe House summer show

The award-winning Shelia Moffatt School of Irish Dancing and Atlantic Rhythm Productions have recreated an 18th century traditional country cottage in the grounds of Enniscoe House in Crossmolina for their summer show.

The aptly named show, simply called Country Cottage, takes place every Wednesday night throughout July and August and features an Irish music, song, and dance concert with a host of talented musicians and dancers.

The impressive cast includes world champion dancers Lisa Lavelle and Stephen Gallagher.

The show aims to bring the audience on a trip back through time with the cottage set in the cobbled courtyard of Enniscoe House, one of Ireland's great Georgian manor homes, built in 1790.

Visitors can enjoy displays of the traditional art of sean nos dancing, including barrel dancing and brush dancing, accompanied by traditional Irish musicians and singers.

A visit to any Irish cottage would not be complete without some tea and home baked scones and cakes, so there is that to look forward to at the interval as well.

The second half of the evening is an open seisiun and visitors are invited to take to the floor themselves.

The cottage will also be the venue for the closing show on Wednesday August 5 of the 2015 Mayo Manchester TradFest.

The TradFest is a huge celebration of the musical and cultural links between Ireland and Manchester and is staging 50 events in and around Ballina from July 31 to August 5.

The closing concert will feature the celebrated Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band along with Joe Keegan from the BBC TV series The Voice and Lawrence Hennigan from the Keegan Academy of Irish Dance.

Tickets are just €7 for adults and €5 for children. The entry cost includes the interval refreshments.
