Culinary delights from The Ardilaun, free flights and entertainment at Galway’s first digital summit

Galway’s first digital summit for Galway, organised by David Glynn and Maricka Keogh from Online Marketing in Galway, takes place in The Ardilaun on Thursday January 29.

Registration is from 6.30pm, but those attending will have good reason to arrive early with the Ardilaun’s head chef David O'Donnell providing complimentary tasings from his new menu at the relaunched Ardilaun Bistro (delegates can tweet or post #TasteofTheArdilaun during the summit for a chance to win one of five Lunch for Two in The Ardilaun Bistro ).

The tasting plates will consist of choices such as Castlemine Farm pulled pork and turkey with Le Petit Delice breads, juniper scented pressed belly and six-hour braised shoulder from Achill mountain lamb, puddings and lamb seaweedsausages from Kelly's in Newport, fish and chips from Four Leaf Clover Fishmongers, and Curley’s vegetables.

Attendees can visit the 40 exhibition stands of local and national businesses all with a digital relevance, and by doing so have a chance to win two free flights from Ireland West Airport to any of its European destinations.

Donal Healy, marketing manager at Ireland West Airport Knock, says: “The airport is delighted to come on board as a gold sponsor for this ground-breaking event for the west of Ireland. It’s wonderful to see a digital event of this scale, attracting some of the leading figures from the Irish digital scene being held in the west of Ireland and it’s a credit to all involved in OMIG for making this happen.”

The Galway market is a key market for the airport given more than 25 per cent of outbound traffic comes from the Galway region, he says.

“In addition more than 100,000 visitors through the airport each year visit the Galway region. When the opportunity came up to support this event we were delighted to come on board.”

The Summit will feature speakers from RTE, The Irish Times, Newstalk, Tourism Ireland, Digital Agency, and a media monitoring firm, while Monroe's Live is hosting a summit after party.

Monroe's is offering free entry to everyone with a ticket for the summit. Irish flute player Alan Doherty, who rose to prominence for his contribution to the soundtrack of Lord of the Rings, will be playing live on the main stage with his group Aldoc, along with Galway's favourite folk group The Whileaways.
