Moone Boys swap onscreen antics for Reek jaunt

Moorehall’s own TV star Ian O’Reilly and his onscreen best pal David Rawl are swapping larking around with Chris O’Dowd on the set of Moone Boy for a jaunt on the Reek tomorrow (Saturday ).

The two young actors are joining Mayo Roscommon Hospice at 1 pm to support their big seven-day challenge on Croagh Patrick, which is raising funds for specialist palliative care services in the county.

The Week on the Reek, launched today (Friday ), is calling on people to scale Mayo’s holy mountain for seven days in a row but members of the public can also come along on any day during the challenge to join in the fun on the slope.

The challenge runs until August 8.

Rawl, from Carrigallen, Co Leitrim, plays the main character in Moone Boy - Martin Moone. He was nominated for a British Comedy Award for his onscreen, scatterbrained adventures with his imaginary friend Seán, played by Chris O’Dowd.

Ian O’Reilly, a student at Ballinrobe Community School, brilliantly acts out the part of Martin’s best friend Padraic.

The Moone boys will be starting their climb at 1pm on Saturday so fans of the show can go along and climb with them.
