Bank holiday competitions brings out the good scores

Balla

Last weekend’s greensome competition was won by the team of Lorcan Cribbin and Eamon Donnellan with a score of 47. The pair’s back nine play held off the challenge of Aodan McSuibhnie and Pauline O’Connor in second place after they also finished on 47. Third place went to Geraldine Kilgallon and Marie Flanagan who scored 48.

It was also President’s Day last Sunday and Kitty O’Connor was the winner of the ladies’ competition, Carmel Heverin finished in second with Carmel Costello taking the gross prize win. Third place was claimed by Ann Marie Doherty, and Patricia Larkin took fourth. The gents’ competition was won by Matt Leonard, Conor Holian finished in second, with Stephen Jennings taking third place, and Chris Jennings fourth. The gents’ gross prize was won by Paraic Cuffe.

Ballyhaunis

The bank holiday weekend competition sponsored by Cunningham’s Londis was won by Derek Walsh with a score of 41pts, Alan Delaney finished in second place, and David Murphy took third spot at the end of the weekend. The ladies’ competition was won by Mary Cunnane with Norrie Dillon finishing in second place. The junior competition was won by Jamie Lyons.

Castlebar

Maurice Kerr was the winner of the Seamus Cuffe Car Sales sponsored 18 hole competition with a score of 69. He finished just in front of Gabriel Lyons in second place, with Adrian Rocke taking third place. The gross prize was won by Brendan Frost, with James Hughes the junior winner, and Tommy Lawless taking the nearest pin. The ladies’ competition was won by Veina Brett who scored 46pts, with Karen Moylette finishing in second place and Maureen Collins finishing third, with Monica Joyce claiming the nearest the pin prize on the 10th hole.

Swinford

Last weekend’s 18 hole stroke competition was won by Kevin Feeney with a score of 66. Eamon Ring finished in second place and Paul Ronayne in third, with Gerry Ronayne the gross winner. The ladies’ competition win went to Annie McNeela, with Catherine Loftus in second and Patricia Feeney in third.

Westport

There was a senior gents’ scramble last week which was won by the team of  Ronald Kandiah, Eugene Lavelle, John Moran, and Tom Holland. Second place in the scramble was taken by the foursome of Tony Joyce, Tommy J Reilly, Teddy Walsh, and Noel Connell. The club open competition was won by Liam Halpin with Aidan Flynn finishing in second place.

In the club gents’ competition Ted Walsh was the winner by one point from Vincent Rigney in second place, with Paul Dyar finishing in third place. The gross prize went to Shane Larkin, while there were category wins for Ray Gibbons, Padraic Hughes, John Kavanagh, and John Mulhern.
