Party, The Electric Cave 10th anniversary
McGings, Westport, Saturday, 8pm
The Electric Cave, the leading production company behind the world famous Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival, will celebrate their 10th anniversary in business with a party in McGing’s Pub, Westport, tomorrow (Saturday ) at 8pm.
The company, founded by Uri Kohen, has grown from producing small tribute nights in Westport to staging gigs on a regular basis for artists from all over the world.

Exhibition, paintings of Achill Island

A new exhibition of oil paintings, by Alex McKenna, will be opened tomorrow by Dr Giesla Holfter of Limerick University, at Western Light Art Gallery, Sandybanks, Keel, Achill Island.
The opening is at 6pm.

A series of talks, seminars, and guided walks are taking place all weekend in Dugort Achill for the 11th annual Heinrich Boll Memorial Weekend.

Family entertainment, Shrek the Show
Royal Theatre Castlebar, Sunday and Monday, 12.30pm and 6.30pm
All Stars Academy of Performing Arts present Shrek the Show in the Royal Theatre Castlebar on May 4 and 5.
The shows are on at 12.30pm and 6.30pm on both days.
This is the academy’s 12th production with student performers rehearsing for the show for the past three months.

Folk music, The Jeremiahs

Dublin folk group The Jeremiahs bring their blend of old and new folk to Crockets on The Quay in Ballina on Bank Holiday Monday night.
The group have been performing recently at folk and fringe festivals around Ireland and internationally and are a nice treat for folk fans in Ballina on the holiday Monday looking for some top live music.
Country music, Lee Matthews and band
McWilliam Park Hotel, Saturday, 9.30pm
It’s country all the way at the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris, tomorrow night. In an entertainment double bill, first up on the night is rising star in the Irish and UK country scene Lee Matthews and band.
He is followed by Johnny Brady and band. The Antrim singer/songwriter has performed in every major venue in Ireland and is set to delight at the Claremorris venue, which is fast becoming regarded as the home of country music in Mayo.
Live music, Freddie White
Ballina Arts Centre, Friday
Spanning musical genres and eras, industry veteran Freddie White is onstage in the Ballina Arts Centre tonight at 8pm.
On the live music scene in Ireland since the 1970s, White’s interpretation of songs from the likes of Randy Newman, Tom Waits, John Hiatt and Guy Clark, as well as his own classy compositions, blend to create a unique style and sound.
