Former Mulranny garda station to be used as amenity centre

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring has been informed by Minister of State Brian Hayes, who has special responsibility for Public Sector Reform and the Office of Public Works, that the Garda barracks in Mulranny will be handed over to the local community.

Minister Ring said: “Minister Hayes has stated to me that Mulranny Amenity Centre Ltd succeeded in its bid to the OPW for the use of the former Garda station for community activities. Minister Brian Hayes is due to visit the area in the new year to hand over the station under licence to Mulranny Amenity Centre Ltd.”

He added that in light of Mulranny winning the Best Small Town in Ireland 2013 Tourism Town Award, together with their success with the Tidy Towns and Eden Awards, “I wish to congratulate the community of Mulranny on all their achievements and the great work they do. They are a wonderful and very hard working community and they deserve every award they receive.”
