Month in prison for being a passenger in a stolen car

A Westport man pleaded guilty at Ballina District Court this week to being a passenger in a stolen car.

On August 18 2012 gardaí in Ballina received a call about a stolen Polo. Gardaí saw the car on Clare Street and the car was stopped. The passenger, Kieran Kelly, 25 Michael Davitt Park, Golf Course Road, Westport, was arrested for his unauthorised carriage in a stolen vehicle.

The 26-year-old defendant has six previous convictions.

Judge Mary Devins convicted and sentenced him to one month in prison.
