101 American Classic & Retro Show 2013

Into The West American Auto Club is hosting its annual event - the 101 American Classic and Retro Show on August 11 in Castlebar. The event will take place on a hard surfaced site at Shaw Commercials, Breaffy Road Business Park, and will assist with funding towards Talkaboutit, the voluntary organisation based in Mayo which raises awareness about suicide.

The event, which is the only one of its kind in the west of Ireland will have exhibitors travel from all across the country and will cover all aspects of the American scene, from cars that featured in classic movies and TV series, muscle cars, old and newer pickup trucks, big rigs and of course American bikes including Harley Davidson. With supporting American themed stalls selling merchandise and food it is sure to interest all tastes and all ages.

The show kicks off at 11am and runs until 5pm and there will spot prizes for the early birds.

Talkaboutit recently opened a drop in centre on Ellison Street in Castlebar in an effort to get people talking about suicide and positive health.

Currently there are four counsellors working in a voluntary capacity, and the new drop-in centre, at Burleigh House, is managed by psychotherapist and counsellor Yvonne Dunne.

Talkaboutit does not receive any funding and relies solely on donations from local businesses and the generosity of the public who support dedicated fundraising activities.

The Talkaboutit drop-in centre is open six days a week, Monday to Saturday, from 12 noon to 6pm. A qualified counsellor will be available at those times either in person or at the end of a phone line. The centre can be contacted on 094 904 4933. For an out of hours service call Joe McGuire on 086 870 2062.
