A Claremorris man who was caught drink driving close to where he lived was disqualified from driving for four years after pleading guilty to drink driving and driving without insurance at Castlebar District Court this week.
Superintendent Joe Doherty told the court that Malvydas Buskevicius with an address at 2 Grattan Park Avenue, Claremorris, was stopped by gardai after they observed a car driving very slowly and veering to the left of the road in Grattan Park Avenue, Claremorris, on December 12 2011 at 4.05am.
He was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and was brought to Claremorris Garda Station, where he gave a blood sample that returned a reading of 266mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood. A demand was also made for the production of his insurance documentation within 10 days, which was not done.
Buskevicius’ solicitor John Geary told the court that his client was a married father of three, who had set up his own business in the motor trade which he had run for a number of years, before it failed last year, and Buskevicius was sorry for what had happened. The court was told that Buskevicius had a previous conviction for driving without insurance in 2012. For drink driving Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined Buskevicius €600 and disqualified him from driving for three years. For driving without insurance she convicted and fined him €600 and disqualified him from driving for four years, as it was his second conviction for it within three years.
