Mayo launch of The Emigrants’ Farewell tugs all emotions

It was a night of tears, joy and laughter in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar at the end of last month when the vibrant Atlantic Rhythm Productions from Crossmolina, raised the roof as they received a much deserved standing ovation from the large audience present at the launch of the show The Emigrants’ Farewell.

This artfully crafted human story captivated the audience who were transported back in time, by the gifted actors who turned in compelling performances in their portrayal of life in Mayo in 1912. This is a story which moves seamlessly between humour and sadness with many moments evoking great pathos. The journey concluded with the reading of a poignant tribute to the 14 people from Addergoole Parish who had travelled on the RMS Titanic 101 all those years ago.

The audience was treated to performances by world-class step dancers, joined on stage by outstanding sean-nós dancers and excellent musicians.
