“The secret to successful weight management doesn’t lie in ‘fad’ or ‘extreme diets’ which rarely have any scientific basis,” according to local heart and stroke charity, Croí, which has just launched a new programme in Mayo to help individuals lose and manage weight in a healthy way.
A healthy weight can be achieved by literally making small changes in your lifestyle. Delivered by a Croí nutritionist over six weeks (one hour a week ) this new weight management programme will include expert guidance on all aspects of healthy eating, including the following topics: exploring your relationship with food; making healthy choices when shopping; understanding food labels; and controlling portion sizes. During the six week programme each person will be encouraged to keep a food diary. A weekly ‘weigh-in’ will also be provided for those who wish to participate.
The first of these programmes will take place in the Cúram Family Centre, Claremorris, on Wednesday April 24 from 7pm to 8pm. Places are limited so booking is essential. For further information and to book your place contact Ailish Houlihan, Croí nurse on 094 904 9172.
